The Blonde Naso Tang (Naso elegans), also known as the Orange-spine Naso Tang, is a coral safe fish that can be aggressive towards its own kind and possibly other Tangs. Otherwise, it is peaceful towards most fish. It needs a 72"+/180+ gallon aquarium, when full grown. The aquarium should have lots of rock to hide in, and plenty of space to swim around. Blonde Nasos are prone to jumping and a tight fitting lid is suggested.
The colors of a juvenile change slightly as this fish matures. It will develop a thin black mask between the eyes and mouth. The body will darken into a bluish gray color. Additionally, the tail takes on a lyre shape and two yellow patches appear at the peduncle spines near the tail.
The diet of this fish should contain a large amount of marine based seaweed and algae. Blonde Naso Tangs will eat meaty foods, but frequent feedings of dried seaweed products like Sea Veggies or Seaweed Select are required for long term success. Rods & LRS Herbivore formulas are excellent options to supplement their diet with. Since Tangs are more susceptible to lateral line disease, fin erosion, Ich and other skin parasites, more attentive care is required. Ensure you maintain the highest water quality, and offer a varied diet, rich in nutritious marine-based algae, and soaked in vitamins, to keep your Tang in optimal health. Max size is around 18".
